The Wonderful Camping Trip!

Getting ready to hit the trails!
Feet Galore!
Did you know there are goats on the roof!?!?!
Walking in the wonderful woods!

NITTY GRITTY THURSDAY!

Hi my darlings! Today included lots of housekeeping and note taking but it was worth it!

7ers
- We started out the class period discussing algebraic expressions and practicing some more with another worksheet.  After this we took notes on addition, subtraction, multiplication and division and the jargon and terminology that goes along with making and completing problems dealing with algebraic expressions
- Then! We went to the library to work more on expressions and you made your own algebraic expression problems that you will give to your classmates to stump tomorrow!  Get ready! Next week is going to entail MAJOR biome time!

6ers
1. You came in, showed me that data from a stem and leaf plot can be used to make a histogram
2. We made a tri fold in our blue paper listing each graph - and you decided which questions from your survey are appropriate for each type of graph -- line, bar, histogram, line plot, pictograph, stem and leaf plot
3. You finished the blue sheet!

TOMORROW THE COW IS DUE! Remember to cross out and justify your repeats ! Remember that IXL  tasks need to be up to 90 for all! (we will have some time in the computer lab!)

Can't wait to see you! My advisory - bring a t-shirt that we can use for our secret thing!

Who will have the most creative costume!

Cheers!

1. Why a histogram is sometimes better to portray data than a stem and leaf plot!
2. Starting to formulate our survey questions - 18 to 6 GREAT questions that you can use to collect data and make 6 AMAZING graphs!

CORRECTIONS TO THE COW KNOWLEDGE

For 6th grade you do not have to do R.11
7th grade you do not have to do 0.11 and 0.15!

Ella please give me a GMAT question! You have such amazing books we have to make use of them!

Until tomorrow my darlings!

2. Paper ball lab

Here are some helpful documents:
GRADE 7 COW
GRADE 6 COW
GRADE 678 REASONING AND COMMUNICATION

7er agenda
1. t-chart for indirect and direct proportion.
the components of the t-chart included, formula, sketch of the graph for each, what K stands for, how to prove using data points and what happens to Y as X increases.

2. We went to the computer lab to finish our Biome plant and animal adaptation sheets!
3. Put the t-chart into our family

HELP ON INDIRECT PROPORTION

TOO AWESOME THURSDAYS!

Hello gang! Today was a day full of activity!

7ers
1. Word problems that YOU made up for direct proportion
2. Group work on Indirect proportion -- remember in this case, as X goes up, Y goes down.  EVERY single pair of coordinates you have on a indirectly proportional graph have the same K value.  You get K by multiplying X and Y!!!
3. Made up your own indirect proportion problems!

HOMEWORK: COW published is due tomorrow AND both indirect proportion problems if you didn't finish them then they are due tomorrow!

6ers
1. Jumping Jack stem and leaf plot
2. finish posters, good job teachers, check the side bar for pictures from the presentations!

Tomorrow EVERYONE'S COW is DUE!

Wednesday, October 13, 2010

GMAT question of the week.

Working together, Jose and Jane can complete an assigned task in 20 days. However, if Jose worked alone and complete half the work and then Jane takes over the task and completes the second half of the task, the task will be completed in 45 days. How long will Jose take to complete the task if he worked alone? Assume that Jane is more efficient than Jose.

  1. 25 days
  2. 30 days
  3. 60 days
  4. 65 days
  5. 36 days

Welcome back Wednesday!

Hello Team!

Welcome back after a wonderful Fall Break to relax and recuperate!  I missed you dearly and was so excited to see all of your faces today!

Agenda:
6
1. COW pass back
2. Assessment pass back
3. FOR HOMEWORK THIS WEEK
-- You must revise one of your COWs or use a COW for Knowledge and Communication that you have Met on both standards!
1. Choose a matrix problem
2. Revise ALL portions so it is publish worthy
3. Type or Write EXTREMELY neatly!
4.  HAND IN ON FRIDAY!

7
1. COW pass back
2. Direct proportion activity with graphs and with creating lines and finding K

remember you can find two numbers on a directly proportional line by using k and choosing one x value to then give you y

Reminders:
A line is directly proportion if it goes through the origin and you can cross multiply two coordinates to get the same number!

7 Homework is the same as 6 for the week!

Congratulations to Atlantys for Winning the HULA HOOP CONTEST!!! WOOOHOOO!!!!!!

THE MUCH ANTICIPATED GMAT QUESTION OF THE WEEK!

During the past week, a local medical clinic tested N individuals for two infections. If 1/3 of those tested had infection A and, of those with infection A, 1/5 also had infection B, how many individuals did not have both infection A and B?

Thursday!

7ers
1. More work with direct proportion.

Remember k is the magic number - it is our constant.  It is the 'per anything' so basically you can use to it to figure out how much total you need for any direct proportion scenario.

- To check for direct proportion cross multiple two points
- All graphs of direct proportion must pass through the origin (0,0) - Way to remember that Rivers!

2. We quickly colored in the maps of our biomes - I promise we'll work more tomorrow!

6ers
1. Finished the assessment
2. Stem and leaf plot practice

Check your family and/or Tuesday's blog for more stem and leaf plot practice

TODAY TODAY!CORRECT 6C COW and Update on GMAT question

HERE IS THE CORRECT LINK TO THE 6C COW! (SORRY BRITTANY!)

Today's agenda:

6ers
1. Salt water density lab - You'll get a pickle if you write at least two sentences about the relationship between the salt water solutions and density
2. Analysis questions

7ers
1. WHAT A DAY!
2. Correction for the COW, the function for the COW is NOT 10 x (10-x) = y
3. We discussed finding whether or not a line has a directly proportional relationship.

We need to use y=kx to determine the magical number 'k' and go from there.

Don't worry! More to come on this tomorrow 7ers, yesterday was a crazy day

GMAT question will be posted by tomorrow! SORRY!
